Cautious head above the parapet here (shit, a cliché). Just getting back into poetry/creative writing in general, after self-deprecating myself out of it for too long, following the obligatory pretentious angst in Uni days years ago. Finally built up enough "sod it" momentum and determined to spend less time in front of the idiot box and more time amusing myself with pen and paper.

Likely to re-cloak until I can summon up the wit to post some useful feedback and the nerve to offer up something of my own for constructive derision, er, feedback.

(Edit: probably a newbie thing, but WTF is the signature editor? I've been through the CP a bunch of times and it's not showing where I'd expect, in the edit options bit)

Hooray for the impetus of "sod it"!

The signature editor: click on User CP, then down the left hand side you should see a menu box -- one of the headings is "edit profile" and one of the options under that is "change signature". If you still have trouble, send a PM to one of the mods with what you'd like as your sig and we'll change it for you.

Hello, my name is Amy and I'm an alcoholic. (Oh wait, wrong forum..)

It probably would have been better to say hi before I excessively post on the feedback forums...

I've put poetry on the back burner for quite a while now, in order to do well in my exams and bring some money in through busking. I found my love for it again when I started my poetry course, though I've spent enough time ripping apart and analysing poetry now and want to get back into writing again.

Other than here, you'd find me eating rainbow cake and writing a one woman musical.

Hello,

My nickname is short for Regnant. In some languages it means Rain. I do not really know what a poem is supposed to be like. And I can never quite get enjoyment out of reading, unless it's been written like "The Raven" by Poe, "To Time" by Byron, or similar. A paragraph through, any book, and I'm already waiting for the author to wrap up the scene, for it to make sense. Most of what I've written has a sense of rhythm in it, as if intended to be used in songs. If I dumped it all on the internet for the public to read most people would probably assume I was insane.

That's it, for now.

Hi there,

Just taking a minute to get the compulsory awkward introduction out the way.
I know I know, they're not really 'compulsory' as such, but polite just the same;
and 'awkward' ... well one can't really argue with that right?

Anyway, name's Jason and I reside in Melbourne Australia.
Been dabbling in poetry for years now, not that that makes me certified in any way,
shape or form; quite the contrary, have never even had any of my poetry seriously critiqued.

To conclude this intro I would just like to say that I am looking forward to having
my — infrequent — work torn apart by all you fellow scribes here, be it novice or esteemed.
So, I guess I'll get to know who's who as time go on, and look forward to getting to know a few of you.

Regards,
Jason
