Hi, everyone,

I'm fairly new to poetry - been reading and enjoying it since I was a teenager but I only started writing about a year and a half ago! I'm 25. Aside from poetry, I enjoy playing and writing music, my dog, Mexican food, and serial killers. I've got an English degree from one of those fancy "we're one of the best, private, liberal arts institutions in the nation" colleges but I tend to think that's all hogwash anyway. School is what you make of it...

I love Hardy, Plath, Shakespeare (who doesn't?), Lowell, Frost, Millay, Hughes, and many others. I tend to gravitate towards late 19th/20th Century poetry but I've been known to crack a dust-covered book every once in a while. For novels, I love Celine ("Journey to the End of the Night" is my favorite book ever), Twain, Dahl, Faulkner, Steinbeck...I'll read anything you give me.

Looking forward to reading and critiquing your poems! I hope to be a helpful member.

Hey, comrades.

I'm Michelle, a lifelong bookworm who majored in biochemistry despite a nagging desire to pursue poetry. I posted on the xenith.net forums a bit when I was a kid, and at 24 I'm ready to give poems another try. My biggest influences are Philip Levine, Charles Bukowski, Pablo Neruda, Alan Ginsberg, Sylvia Plath, Raymond Carver, and David Foster Wallace (who is not technically a poet, but still).

I was the poetry editor for a small-time literary magazine's back in the day, and I've read enough to feel comfortable humbly critiquing others. I'm far less comfortable with my own rusty writing skills, however, so I'm ready for some brutally honest criticisms. I look forward to being inspired by the writers here, and hope to be a helpful part of the community.

Cheers,
LittleOwl

Hi, Rina and all. I'm also new here, also excited by this lovely site.

Around three years ago my interest in writing (as opposed to just reading) poetry awoke from a 30 year nap. I proceeded to spew poems all over the internet with rarely an edit. It was fun, but now I'm looking forward to finding any that might be worth keeping and putting some work into them.

Thanks in advance for help with that, and for providing all the new poems to read.

Hello!

First time being on an posting on any fourm, really. I'm looking to expand my knowledge with poetry as well as sharing what I have created. I like to view poetry as dark, majestic and vibrant. I like to think that poetry helps with any hard situation, that's why I write it. It's like music. It has soul, life, grace and death. Anyways. Yeah.
