the wash is done, the blessed are blessed,

the last of the fruit on the branch now succumbs
to frost as it clings
to all once green things;
wool mittens are cloaking green thumbs.

Green thumbs in the spring work their magic with plants,
then the summer browns both with its heat.
With the fall comes the frost (and the last of those ANTS);
rest your feet, and in three months repeat.

the winds of autumn chilly blow
not yet the whirling breath of snow
with leaves a crunching
and pumpkin pie munching
