I started to write poetry because from a young age I always dreamed to be a painter. Since my dexterity is dreadful, I try to paint the world with words. I'm not quite sure how to do one of these, so I'll list off some basic facts about my personality that everyone pretends to care about:

- college student
- singer/composer
- brusque
- neophyte poet
- semi-avid reader
- reclusive
- i play a lot of video games.
- my name is coy the word, not the fish. koi fish weird me out. albeit the correct spelling is koi, many falsely spell it coy.

Greetings, folks. I've been writing poetry for a while; now I'm ready to knuckle down, and hopefully sub a thing or two.

Cheers.

We're not all like billy; in fact, I don't think any of us are like billy (even billy isn't like billy).

Hi, I'm Lateralus, according to my username.
I'm very new to poetry, and still haven't figured out how to post threads, but I guess I'll find out. I hope to have a nice stay here, anyways.

Welcome, Lat,

Read the stuff just below this thread -it will help you a lot.

Remember that people post expecting to get feed-back: if someone doesn't take to what you have written, don't take it personally. It is not about getting in little digs. People post because they want feed-back.

And it isn't serious serious serious.

Have fun.

Hi, peeps, welcome. If you're new to workshopping I suggest reading the critique tips in the Important Threads and giving it try, it gets the mind working. Read as much poetry as you can to figure out what works for you and how best to go about your own write.

There's a rich library here, great explanations in the Poetry Exercises and many interesting examples of crit and editing in the workshops.

Hope you have fun here. Smile
