 Scullers from Scotland
 collect grey bird shit;
 with hawk and peacock it adds
 smokiness to the peat.

 Weaving from smoke to smoke,
 the shiny pretty fox threads
 leaf and stem with piss --
 in his mouth, the cony bows.
 On the pond, the duck waits.

 The pretty fox weaves threads
 of leaf stems into forest scenes
 ducks on the pond, a shiny cony
 and a hunter's bow in flight

 Holocaust once meant
 a burnt-offering, a fire
 around which we dance.

 offers up its last flame

Winter has left at last,
now flame appears first
before stars in the evening sky

Making Room

Yesterday the guest room housed a library;
today the bedroom is piled high
as I struggle to rework the jigsaw.

I keep my library in my bedroom
because I hate to think guests would do as I do
when I visit them - fit their jigsaw together from their books
