		Hello! Welcome to T.G.I.F.
What this is:  A new prompt will be posted every Friday.  Everyone is welcome to participate in this thread at any time, no restrictions apply.   Don't overthink the prompts, just let loose and have a bit of fun.
How it Works:
1. Write a poem on the suggested topic using the form described.  (However, the prompt is more like guidelines, not a hard and fast rule.)
2. Each poem should appear as a separate reply to this thread.
3. The goal is to have FUN!!!   Comments, kudos, and questions are welcome responses.

		Blind Fear
We fear flat darkness, not a sudden light
 revealing terrors, skeletons to fright
our snuffed-out vision which in blackness might
imagine worse than some bare-boney wight.

This void lives with us, just behind our eyes–
much scarier than what mere seeing spies,
for truth’s not horror, horror truly lies
 in waking nightmares darkness magnifies.

		Monsters
 Full moons aren't what
 truly turn people
 into cornered animals.

 There are no zombies
 on the wrong side
 of boarded up windows,

 but vampires are real
 metaphors for those
 who suck our emotions.

		Fear Itself
 the fear of death
 is a breathless boo
 stood next to the fear
 of losing you

		She is a hypochondriac,
self-aware and wary of self,
with chronic pain
and stubborn pride.

She refuses to see a doctor.
“It would so embarrassing
to be wrong,” she says.
(I think it would be worse to be right.)

It isn’t so much the heart attack this week,
or last week’s bout of Parkinson’s
when her hand was shaking just like Gramps,
or the kidney stone that never was,
but rather, I think it’s the fear
that someday it will be true
and she would never know the difference.

		Let it be said
 Let it be said
 in these private strophes,
 that I am afraid,
 of one man's tweets,
 who may ban apostrophes
 and outlaw beets,
 in vituperation hateful.
 And still the faithful
 who will sing 'yoohoo!
 the bright day is dawning
 from Idaho to Wyoming
 for writers AND for stew'.

thanks, Richard.
Privately, I'm a semi-fan of the man. If only he'd tone it down a little...
