		Your Optimist
I release a sigh
In my struggling state,
Searching for the yellow—
The daisies reaching,
The sun rays bleaching,
A darkened, gloomy day.
To bring me peace,
That sweet release,
That yellow gives for free.
But with a subtle whisper,
I hear a gentle plea:
"I am trying, with all I am.
I know my role in this—
To bring brightness to you
In this blackening abyss.
But please understand me
When I tell you that today,
I am lost with hues of red and blue,
In different shades of gray."

		Primaries
What happened? Not so long ago
when three primary colors show
in any finger-painting set
red, yellow, blue are what you get
with secondaries pooled by pair
(green, orange, purple if you care)
but then things sharply changed
with how things were arranged.
For reasons not completely clear
before that last millennial year
usurping green grew primary
with yellow dropped from RGB.
Demoted, yellow soldiered on
with cyan and magenta drawn
from chemistry and fantasy
for printing inks’ dot-ecstasy.
I mourn but little for the pair
dispensed with - purple, orange, fair
at best.  But yellow still shines, bold
true primary, the shade of gold.

		Though I've never seen
a giallo film,
the style is deeply woven
into my DNA.
Everything I write is either
sunlight striking a gilded frame,
golden coins stacked high on a table,
the years staining parchment, a blond head
stretched across a wig stand, cirrhotic skin,
pus from an untreated scratch,
the piss of a frightened woman
running down her leg, the yellow earth,
bubbling sulfur, even
hellfire---or mozzarella.

		I avoid the word yellow
Cause I like rhymes that follow
Not to cheesy or shallow
The best option is hello
Cause bellow makes me wallow
And cry Into my pillow
And nobody says fellow
So swallow below mellow...poop

		How the world rages
today burning red
with their fire MAGA
hell bent I'm afraid
intellectually bankrupt
only think to destroy
blue,
I long for yellow.
A middling color;
the color of a late
fall dandelion, I admit,
it spoiled the green,
but better that
than the forever
of a denied spring-
can't we agree?

		After a sleepless night,
in a haze of contentment
I entered the misty morning.
Walked graciously.
Observed gratefully.
Meandered.
Took daffodils.
Now.
In Yellow room.
Fifty three rays of sun.
  -- Counted them all.
