I recently found a list of 111 prohibited words (on a web site called 'Pretend Genius' so it might possibly be irony).

So my question is: what's the legitimate vocabulary for poetry? I'll reserve my opinions to avoid bias.

Nice one - intent! There, I think lies a great secret. The sort of secret, however, that's not kept under wraps intentionally, but simpy will not occur to those who are unprepared.
