if we had a single world religion?
Catholicism, Buddhism etc. would any of the wars end? would the world be a better or worse place.

Well i think that yes it would but that religion has not come to pass as of yet. No one religion has gotten it correct to date that i can see.

i know but is a rhetorical question.
which if any religion do people think would be the best at uniting the world. if not do you think no religion at all is the way. i like the idea of a Buddhist but they can be cruel mo fo's at times. the Catholics. i'd hate for them to be it. same with most of the middle eastern religions. for me they'd be way to overpowering. i think i'd go with Taoism (is that a religion?)

there'll be immediate disputes of what is the correct interpretation,to avoid this we should base our new religion on everything goes,although most people want to be told what to do by some nutter or other.

Well my answer was no based on my original reply. We would be better of with no religion at all as this inherently by our existing definitions of religion leads us down the path of fairy tales.
What we have at the presant time are a multitude of followings all based in one way or another on the beleif that an unseen all knowing all powerfull being is lurking. Watching, judging and playing out his will on every so called soul now and that ever was or will be. Sorry if i offend any of the blind but this is a pile of bullshit thats to big to miss. This way of religion has been instilled in the memory banks of humanity since the first human was capable of theorizing the question.....How is all of this possible? We made this shit up as we went along the path to the present day. That many thousands of years of being tought and added to can not be reversed as easily as opening a door. Not yet anyway.

the trouble with rhetorical questions is that they will often, never come to fruition. if there were a world religion, would it be mandatory to follow it?

Well that would totally depend on the outline of the religion and the rules of engagement. Mandatory would imply a set of laws enforced by a ruling body. What would be the difference from what we have now? A one religion world would require something from outside the box. Mandatory would not work.

What makes you so sure that almost all of the 3 religions namely the Christians, Hindus and Muslims are religious fanatics?

yeah but even within their own religions their leaders want total control and dominance. Buddhism a bit diff. toaism has some of the christian concepts but without the dogma. i'm with vfog. well maybe not kill off the followers. just cut off all the heads of the three main religions and keep doing it till no one wants to be the head anymore.
