Howdy! I'm Koidulaulik, "Singer of Dawn" in Estonian, yet I'm not English, nor Stater, nor Estonian
I'm 20 (OMG 20 already! I'm feeling oldie) and I study tourism. I started writing poetry when I was 16, and some day I realised that English was a more suitable language for me, for I didn't feel confortable with my mother thongue. I hope to post some of my writings up here and to learn from you all. I signed up here because, truly, there's really little poetical life in my country, which upsets me to death and makes me look like a damn freak amongst my classmates. I don't know how to enclose myself poetically; I'm kind of a "romantic goth" with nietzschean and realistic touches in my life, so I think my poetry must be sort of. My favourite writer is Henrik Ibsen (Deep Hell, he opened my eyes more than my teachers and far more than my parents) and my favourite poet... Lydia Koidula could be, and I also really appreciate Adam Oehlenschläger. My two favourite poems could be "Mítt alfagra Land" from Símun av Skárdhi and Det er et yndigt Land from Oehlenschläger, or also Ta lendab mesipuu poole from Juhan Liiv. I think that languages are no barriers for poetry, they just need a translation, because any language can appear beautiful to ear and be musical and enchanting. I am not planning to become a professional writer, at least not in my country, I just write in silence, hidden and forgotten, looking a respectable bourgeois outdoors and being a complete hedonist indoors, with orange brandy and Cuban tobacco
. Well, I leave it here. Through my writings I'll get more clear about myself. Cheers to everybody
