Whether One or One Hundred (for Leanne)

Whether One or One Hundred

for Leanne (not because it resembles you in anyway, but because you are sooo fond of the type!)

That imperious urge,
age does seem to purge,
but to misquote the poet gently,
I'll not limp into that darkening night bently.
Let the fire burn higher and higher,
no cold tomb for me,
but a blazing pyre.
If you can not watch, then flee
—for I will not mind my Q's or PC's
to sit upon the beach a hypothetically
year longer. Truth can burn the eyes,
were I the sun and had you eyes—
I will burn as a sun until there's nothing left to burn,
all about and all around, a Big Top poet:
not only from the top;
as a candle that time's forgot
resisting 'til the end, its end,
until for lack of fuel…

*I coined the termed "bently" for Tom.

How long after picking up the brush, the first masterpiece?

The goal is not to obfuscate that which is clear, but make clear that which isn't.
