disturbing broadcast (edit)
#2
There's a general feeling of "moral high ground" to the whole poem, and I'm not sure whether it's intended to be an admission of guilt from the author, who confesses they'd rather be distracted than take action, somehow, or it is an attempt to voice an average "joe / joelle" with their listless attempt cover their indifference, but I found it interesting either way.

Also the slight imprecisions in the rhymes (which are assonance in a few cases, namely "wars - far" and "fears - clear"), although probably not purposefully, contribute the general idea of an uninterested westerner (or whoever else is not directly touched by said horrors). Even though I'm not a fan of the sort of "slam-poetrish" vibe this poem bears, I think there might be a cunning hidden critique deeper than the blatant accusation, or maybe I hope so, to be absolutely honest =)
