Quote:The Swan as Metaphor for Love

by Amelia Gray

I really enjoyed this, knowing never to get close enough to see the underbelly (though I've found the underbelly of love, while not pretty, to be not quite so ugly). My only complaint is at the end, of course swans have beds, we call them nests. I'm sure they stink of rot and shit, but still, they do make themselves homes.

And they're much better at keeping their babies alive than ducks or geese, credit where it's due, a metaphor can turn more than one way. Smile
