My Life is Good

The folks who live inside the tents
below the freeway horns and scents
are screaming in to open vents,
‘you know that I exist’.

I hear the words and try my best
to plug my nose and prim my vest
and visualize the chicken breast
I had last night at Tryst.

The meal itself could pass as fine
if you get drunk before you dine,
but all the waitresses are nines
who smile when you insist.
