I've always been a big advocate for the internet and the information superhighway. I still am. It boggles the mind just how much wisdom we've accrued over the years, no matter how self-deprecating we can get.

But the internet is a complicated organism with organs that serve different purposes. The din of the louder bits of it is getting to me. It wouldn't be so bad if it was just hard to be heard - it's also getting difficult to listen, to hear anything meaningful.

I've sailed to your shores seeking a community that's slightly more insular, slightly more happy to play by its own rules. This seems to be the case from what I've seen. What you've showcased as your best work has moved me. I hope to add to your shared canon, or at least bear witness to its continued creation.

In the olden days, when I was first registering at sites, I thought one was supposed to type
in their real name. I was lucky. I'd have "thought up" something stereotypical, something
involving cats. Once again, ignorance reigns supreme.

Anyway...

When I saw you'd typed "internet" and "wisdom" close together with no negatives in between,
you had me worried. Then I read your second paragraph and was reassured.

Hopefully, you're seeking a real island, which is what we have here. (We steadfastly ignore that other definition.)

And yes, we definitely have our own rules here, which everyone interprets differently cuz that's what writers
are supposed to do and we aspire to be writers so you see where that goes.
And "happy"? Well, again, you know: Writers.

But yes, good tidings and joy! I can tell from your words that you have found what you are seeking:
A community that will support and console you, one united in common suffering: Writers.
