This reads really Japanese, at least that's the kind of feeling I'm getting. (Well, Impressionists were heavily influenced by Japanese art) The picture is static, nothing happens. The second part though changes the tone, offering a bunch of somber similes and metaphors. I would say, however, that for me it did not quite work – I struggle to imagine a sunset that hangs like a peel, or how one can see teeth and a casket in a viaduct.
