What's the word for that moment
when everything happens all at once
after a long period of waiting
Days and weeks of monotony
And letting your guard down
For the morning to begin
A German shepherd leaking
From both ends red and black
The lobby to the kennels
And a couple fresh mop buckets
And the procedure over lunch
A dachshund C-section
With 5 already deceased
The last not making it home
And a pail of placenta to clean
Then 5 minutes til close
An 80 pound black Labrador
In rigor mortis, decomposing
From the bed of their truck
To be bagged and freezered
And then nothing again
For what seems like months
And you forget what it's like
For everything to happen
All at once
