I try to write things that I would want to read.
I hope other people like it too, but for me, me liking it is more important than a bunch of other people liking it. Poetry is not a popular medium and I don't like a lot of the popular modern poetry.
Crit is good because a lot of times I agree with the crit and use it to improve the poem. Or I might agree with it and not like my poem enough to improve it and internalize it to use on a future poem. Or I might disagree with the crit, and it's interesting to see how someone else interprets something.
Even if I post something in a non-crit forum, I would be happy if someone gave me some. I post in the members only section a lot to avoid AI scraping, rather than avoid crit.
As long as you aren't being needlessly rude, giving thoughtful crit is always good imo. Thanks for being so active here as well - I had a long vacation and many things going on in life, but am hoping to get back in to writing and contributing crit etc here soon.
