The achievement of this poem for me is the mostly convincing conceit. I expected to be pretty much annoyed the whole time but you made me believe I was actually hearing a personified abstraction. Good job!
Some places are too obviously the author Doing a Thing with this conceit, which breaks the spell. Biggest offender here is "I was Enlightenment," think you can find a smoother way to disclose this key fact
I dislike and could not connect with the rather pretentious frame-poem that is the last two stanzas. Suggest abandoning that and just making the discourse the project
I will admit to the frame poem being somewhat pretentious, and that's a flaw. But it's key, I think, to the poem's concept. It is the Rite by which she frees herself of her weird, not a trivial thing (as well as Enlightening both herself and her listeners). It is meant to establish the authority by which she speaks the final line that is the point of the whole thing.
(If it's not a good idea to respond with such explanations, I apologize. I'm new at this.)
I'm curious about "I expected to be annoyed" --- what led to that expectation?
