of atmospheric, legendary
Sauce Bearnaise, that kiss of fairy
tartness, pouting Tinkerbell
small fists on hips, winged gourmet spell.
But, too, there’s bacon,
ham and sausage unforsaken,
then desserts on nickle-plated
carts for appetites not sated
by the meats and eggs
to rise on loose-kneed legs
and trundle home for Sunday naps
recalling pies and fruit-filled wraps
washed down with beetle-bottled gold
and all the fixed-price they could hold!
