me and milo were in leanne's thread and milo came up with the idea of have a logo or or something that gives the site a mention should people be lucky enough to get something published. we were littering her thread there so we removed the crap and are now posting it here,
thought's please on how it would work.

I would think it might be nice to see the 'official' PigPen tag with an endorsement line like "Endorsed by PigPen Poetry" or something along those lines like what you see on books that make the NY book review or some such.

my question is this; would it just be for books or singular poems?
also, they'd have to make sure it wasn't printed here, and also they'd have to have permission from the publisher.

lastly after thinking about it, how many people have we on site who have been published?

I am not sure what you mean by "make sure it wasn't printed here". Of course they would have to work it out with their publisher but that is their concern. Quote:lastly after thinking about it, how many people have we on site who have been published?

The logo at the top of the screen comes from an article on "The Purple Pen" I recognize it from the article.

I think a linked Logo would be great since most publishing's are downloaded, but why not go the whole Hog (no pun intended) and publish a PPP book each member could submit three poems and we could vote in the best ones, I have no idea of how to do any of this or how hard it could be but it sounds exciting (I'm easily excited). All proceeds to server maintenance. TOMH

I like this idea a lot and would be more than willing to contribute in any way that could help.

a publisher would prob go to the site in the logo to see if any of the poems he's publishing were on it, if so, many would pull out of publishing the works.

great idea TOMH but.....i would never use any money generated from such a thing for anything. while i can afford it, i'll pay for it (to not do so would be gooing against everything i had in mind when the site was started. it's free, of cash and ads.

the 2nd point and most important one i think is this, i wouldn't pick any poem over another for publishing or otherwise; mainly because i see a novice poem and know it's the start of a long and hopefully fruitful journey. i hate to have them think that just because they were novice they missed out. for me all those who genuinely want to improve are worthy of picking. so i couldn't choose the best of three from those put forward.

i've seen it on other sites and when someone gets picked, it's all back patting and lovey dovey stuff, but in the wings looking on are a lot that think... it's not fair, what's the point. it's the reason why we turned down the chance of joining a well known inter poetry board competition.

sorry but it's just the way it is

I would think a book if it were created would draw on poems from "spotlighting the hogs" as far as the authors were willing, there is more than enough there.

As far as novices missing out, I would think novice or not, if the poem was nice enough it would be included and if not, long term commitment to the site would probably eventually lead to something that was nice enough. For the legions of "pop-ins" and "pop-outs", I don't think they really represent the site anyway.

All of this is of course my opinion, but I tend to see things in simple fashions.

i'm not bothered about the poppers :d

novice would imply of standard relating to novice of course but i'm on about how they improve even if it's not publishable.

to publish would require funds. garnering funds in any way for anything is something i feel pretty deeply about. at the end of the day while it may be a good idea, it's a non starter. sorry guys.

I would think either we could select a nice literary charity, plan a PigPen Picnic, make the price negligible or deposit it all surreptitiously into my account.

I would think any "divvy" money would be negligible anyway.

Nuff Said, based on your comment about members on the outside looking in I have already chalked this up as a not so great idea.
