Suzie was a vegan freak
who loved to spread the news,
she preached and pushed and ran her mouth
but still wore leather shoes.
Joan gave blood on Friday night
and showed her friends the bruise,
they loved the shade of green it kept
and rushed to give some too.

If you have any ideas for other things which could be a "fashion statement", I'd really like to hear them because I'd like to add another stanza or two to this, but can't think of anything I could write successfully so far.

HAHA! This is ingenious.
People who preach causes on Facebook, then proceed to do nothing practical about the cause are making a fashion statement, trying to define their character. One I hear constantly is, "I heard this song before anyone else." You could also do one about a person who is anti-littering, but doesn't recycle, haha.
I prefer to be as forgettable as possible.

I've definitely seen plenty of that Anonymous, but I think that "I liked them before they were cool" is too straightforward a way of saying "I'm cooler than you" for this poem. I think it works better if they're saying "I'm cooler than you", but hiding it behind moral/ethical grounds; at least the hipster isn't pretending to represent a cause in his quest for coolness.
I think I could probably write a stanza about "environmentalists" though.
I liked this, it was a fun read. Nothing too crazy. It kind of reminds me of a story I heard when I was growing up in the early 90's.
Kid: What is Punk?
Me: It's a lifestyle.
Kid: You mean like mohawks and stuff?
I kicked over a trashcan and said, "That's punk!"
He kicked over another trashcan and asked, "So that's punk?"
Me: No, That's trendy.

i just had a quick re-read; how come the meter in the 2nd verse is reversed from the first verse?

I hadn't even really thought of it... it's just the way it came out. I think it reads okay with these two stanza's; if I add more I'll either keep alternating metre, or try and change one of the two to whichever metre works better.
