Frustrated by the Rhizome
#1
Fervently I loved the rhizome to the point of doubt.
like a wooden man
I stuck my peg inside a rabbit hole,
poking at the many flights and turns.
and inside, that blasted fiend from Updike nibbled on my stub.
I pulled out quick and bled profusely on the dust
And took a twig from a nearby tree and poked
The hole until the damned thing broke.
Then I started digging up the dirt.
Squeamishly at first but then, after dirt was present in the space between my fingernails and skin,
 I went all in.
I threw up clumps into the sky but the arch of flight was very weak,
Some of it had landed on my tattered pair of Nikes
and some of it went in my eyes.
I couldn’t tell why I was crying, but I think it was the dust.

Gnaw Rabbit Gnaw on your Rhizome and tell Ginger you got her by the tubes. Smile

Yes, it's a common pattern that frustration often leads to irrational action. Your lucky you didn't lose your peg, although I guess it would have been a small loss, and easily replaced.

Question, should dirt lodge itself "under" one's fingernails?

"I threw up clumps?" "I threw clumps into the sky"

"I pulled out quick" Ha Ha evidently not quickly enough.

How long after picking up the brush, the first masterpiece?

The goal is not to obfuscate that which is clear, but make clear that which isn't.

Thanks for reading. I've unintentionally personified the dirt. Good catch.
