As he who was beforetime Dale
started to wither and ail
he became our erthona,
old as Babylonia,
sure to prick with his barb til we wail.

All arrows thrown at dale earn cake.

Dale flopped
and flailed
his prick
impaled

on a barb
ensnared
by cunning wit
ella, declared

winner of all
her quiver enthralls.

Give me cake. I rhymed...and it felt dirty.

Must explain why I can read cuneiform,
I figured it wasn't a crime,
I though it was simply the norm,
I guess learned it in the beforetime.
Though I know of what her enthralls,
her eyes, her hair, and tail,
there's nothing to me so tasty after all,
as a scoop of her beautiful entrails.   Hysterical

A deer of course of course.

One who refuses to rhyme
thinks sonnets are nickel and dime
just happens to make
exceptions for cake -
and the crowd sighs 'It's not beforetime.'

lol merc...just to clarify--I don't refuse to rhyme, I don't do it because I know I don't do it well. One should know one's limitations! (for cake, I'm a dirty whore)

Beforetime is istelf beforetime. This is due to its archaic nature in the lexicon.  The phrase also points to its own unmeaning. It predates time, but time is a morpheme contained in its meaning. So, the tautological paradox tears itself apart.

Chronos went to Phanes to birth the godly race,
although the first by children were led to their disgraced.
Chronos fell and broke his precious silver egg,
losing time completely when he bashed his silly head.
