Morning (1.1 Ellajam)
Morning brought Spring's first rain.
From my window I can hear the wail of birth-pangs
and see the tiny, grassy green erections
poking through half defrosted earth,
stretching and groaning to life;
praying the sun might fellate them
just once before they die.

I am so enjoying this one, especially the last two lines, so sad when the snow melts late and reveals already shriveled crocus petals, shot their wad with no one looking.
Racket bothers me, I just can't hear them making that much noise, groaning yes, but not a racket.
Thanks for posting this, great fun and such an interesting moment.

Thanks Ella. You may be right about "racket". It was a leftover from my first thought. How does "murmur" sit with you?

I don't think birth pains murmur.

Though it's such a lovely word. Cry, keen, even squawk, I'm sure you'll think of a good one.

Thanks ella. Made a slight adjustment. I'll save murmur for something else.
