Stroking It

Inside optimism
the ego of a poet
waits with all its words

I can't help but feel that the missing comma, if added, would add to the sense of purity (or whatever) "optimism" has over that articulate ego. But hey, this is pretty good! One thing: optimism, I believe, is a philosophy that's deeply rooted in the ever-controlling ego, so the thought really should go the other way around -- maybe a different, er, thing, instead of optimism? Something concrete and maybe even kinda funny, perhaps? (and hey, it does talk about the ego, and the ego always deserves to be laughed at!)

Also, bit of a joke: "Stroking it" would be a much better title. *winks* EDIT: Dammit, I misread the title. Oh, the irony!

RiverNotch (love that name),

Glad you caught the title reference. Would have been a shame had you not. Thanks for the thoughts but have no desire to have it go the "other way" around. I wrote it this way around Wink
