A salamander's sad swallow

It doesn’t take the brain of Aristotle
to know that drunks are dumb beyond belief.
Your children’s pet is bound to come to grief
if you keep your axolotl in a bottle.

I want this to be for fun because of the rhymes. Dumb beyond belief and bound to come to grief sound hasty. I just picture a smug drunkard looking at a dead salamander saying, 'that's what happens when you axolotl questions'

My friend had her fish in a jar on the floor while she cleaned their tank, and her dog drank a few of them. I could see someone, drunk, grabbing a bottle and swigging it without checking the contents. But yes, you are right, it was fun .
playing with rhymes and sounds.

Great title, moving. Aristotle/axolotl and in my mind, alcohol, all works well. Tight, fun to read but brings up a lot of emotion, pets and parents' carelessness. And alcoholic blundering in its tone. A flavor-packed bite, thanks for posting it.
