Puzzling and very enjoyable.  Are the lillies attending the foxes' wedding ceremony, perhaps, and noshing on the canapes offered at the reception?  Lovely conceit, flowers drinking sunlight rather than water... which would make the hors d'oeuvres those little bits of nourishment their roots swipe up?  Puzzling, then, in a good way.  The sun as a great punchbowl?

Also, this being haiku form, the Japanese idea of fox spirits as not-exactly-evil leads off in other directions...
