Withdrawal Day Five
#1
I need to change the channel,
craving for nicotine
to the early morning storm
now passing on, leaving only
scattered drops
and the cold breath of autumn.

Like all addicts

I need something to change the channel,

in my case, from nicotine need to something else.

The early morning storm has passed

so that distraction has ceased

leaving only scattered drops

and the cold breath of autumn.

The cats are restless,

the dog knows,

no dog park this morning.

I change the channel to Dylan.

Nature is not enough

to fight these insidious cravings.

Hey Tim-
Knowing you (sort of) this sounds like a real situation.  If so, just remember "one day at a time", or hour, or minute.
Having been there, I know how tough it is...

So, with that, on to this poem:

Like all addicts
I need something to change the channel,
in my case, from nicotine need to something else.
The early morning storm has passed
so that distraction has ceased
leaving only scattered drops
and the cold breath of autumn.
The cats are restless,
the dog knows,
no dog park this morning.
I need to change the channel  You could use this line as a refrain.

to Dylan.
Nature is not enough
to fight these insidious cravings.

I'd cut the current ending and add something specific. I know enough about cravings to know that all kinds of crazy shit goes though your mind, and body, so I want to see something, feel something...  Tell me what you're doing, and make it interesting, if even crazy with crazings.  ??

If you really, really want this to be "Short Form" then you may need to distill this to a bare bones blood letting. (Of course, thinking hard while jonesing from nictotine may not even be possible).

Thanks for posting this,
Mark
