And Was It Really Four?

And Was It Really Four?

Returned from ruminations
during my morning exercise I found
I was counting “sixteen”
on the fourth repetition.

How can I believe any
evidence from my perceptions
when I self-lie so shamelessly
about a thing so trivial?

Hey duke, this is a nice one - there are lies I tell myself and know that I'm lying, I'm sure there are many I don't think of as lies as well.

dukealien - It takes practice, fortitude and years of shameless dedication to lie to one self and get away with it without prosecution, penalty or loss of limb. I know several who are very accomplished with it as a daily habit. LOL! Enjoyed your work DA and thanks for sharing. Namyh
