TranquilityBase

I just found out that TranqulityBase (Tim Prather) passed away in May.  Tim was a beloved member and moderator, a talented poet, and a patient and encouraging mentor to many.  He will be sorely missed.

Thanks Quix for letting us know.  He was such a fixture here in the Pen for me, so generous with his time.  I think he critiqued nearly every poem that was posted on the site.  Hard to believe he's gone.

Such sad news. He's been an admirable voice and presence here in the Pen.

I always felt Tim was tightest with you, Steve. I miss him already, but one profound thing about the Pen is we can still learn from him. His stunning poetry and keen observations remain with us. My only regret is that Tim didn't find us sooner.

Tim was a true poet. Nearly every one of his poems would be amongst the best on this site.
At his best, Tim was no worse than Larkin or any of the greats.

It’s a loss for poetry in general

Edit:
TqB was churning out some top notch poems. He was very much in his prime as a writer

Tim wrote some really moving stuff. I'm glad to have crossed paths with him, and sad to hear about his passing. Surely gonna spend some time tonight reading his poetry.

Oh, that's tragic. From my very brief interactions he seemed a lovely soul. One of my favorite critics.

Rest in peace.

Ah Tim, I only knew him through his poetry, and still I knew I loved him.

still alive?

Old folks die.

My neighbor died the other day.

I come on this site and write. And I pay attention. Is he or she dead?

I ask.

I'm not going to give you the third blip.

I knew he was dead.

He said he was sick and dying. He lost his son.

Blip blip blip.

Another good man : dead!

Go ahead, forget about it.

I considered TB a friend.
Someone of a school of thought that predated me and got me.

No one gets me.

No one gets you.

TB was a great human being.

So what?

Live for your family, die for your family.

Live for who you like or love, die for the same.

TB was giant of this site.

Now he's dead.

I hope that puts you in perspective.

Sad news for sure - he was always friendly, his poetry was usually pretty good, and I always liked hearing his critique.

He sent me a link to his youtube a few months ago, on his channel he read a few poems by other people, and I think made some audio of his own poems, mostly audio and text cut ups.

Here's one I think of him reading a poem by a Bengali philosopher Lalan - I liked listening to it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CR9azTmNu9c

Rest in Power Tim...
I was manic when this happened and likely in the psych ward when this thread was posted.
I loved his crit on my poems, he reminded me alot of some others who went to soon.
