I recently found a list of 111 prohibited words (on a web site called 'Pretend Genius' so it might possibly be irony).
So my question is: what's the legitimate vocabulary for poetry? I'll reserve my opinions to avoid bias.

All vocabulary is legitimate for poetry but it is the writers responsibility to understand the effects of the language they use and to use it with intent

Nice one -
intent! There, I think lies a great secret. The sort of secret, however, that's not kept under wraps intentionally, but simpy will not occur to those who are unprepared.
