"I hear the barn owl" is interesting since the owl would be quiet in its hunt, and in fact the narrator "hears" the owl as the sound the prey makes. A very effective piece, I think.

I love this. The closing line makes me feel like this is some kind of interstitial thought process. One idea leads to another, but not the obvious choice in this case. Thanks for sharing.
