For God Sake! Where is everybody? I feel like the last person on this site....Do you want me to turn out the light and lock the door as I leave?

Well in my case it's being up all night with a sick 2 year old. But yes it is quiet today

It's not just to-day, Todd - each day for the last few days I've accessed the site, and as you can see, my name is there on every single thread (apart from Haiku...which aren't to my taste)....I'm desperate to see some other opinions and some decent poetry.
ps - I didn't know that men did that - got up in the night to tend sick children - it didn't happen when mine were small. Hope he/she is on the mend.

I can understand the way you feel, Jill, (I rhyme even when I'm trying not to) but you just have to be patient. Billy is a huge part of what makes this site a success and not having him around is part of the sluggishness. I try to post when I can, but to be honest, some days I don't have time.
![]() I'm very impressed with the way you've contributed to this site during a slow spell- I'm sure everyone has noticed. Thanks for being such a great person. Stick it out and you'll be neck deep poetry and crit before you know it. After all, it's the holidays. A lot of people are really busy(not me) this time of year. Most people have their families(I don't) to celebrate and visit with(call me) but not Mark! Not Avaricious Apathist! I digress(your pic is cute )Okay, screw it. I'll just lay my cards on the table. If you leave the site, I will kill a small dog with a hand grenade. There- I said it. You'll have to live with your decision.

Now I feel like I've completely dropped the ball, as if I wasn't guilty enough before! (Way to play to a Catholic's issues guys...)
I really am sorry. Between uninvited guests, invited guests who end up being a massive drain on time and money that probably should have been predicted earlier, kids Christmas concerts, award nights, work functions, Christmas shopping, cleaning the house after aforementioned guests in preparation for the next lot of guests to arrive next week... well, I've not been feeling very artistic, but that's not an excuse because the site still needs some action. So at least I have a week's grace (sort of) before the descent of the in-laws and before the kids are on school holidays to actually put in an appearance.
It could be worse

Oh, thank goodness for that. Here you all are. But why are you all being so nice to me? I deserve a good slap. There I was on your site, a newbie (despite the 'senior member' moniker) throwing a wobbly over nothing.
As to guilt (Leanne) I'm not catholic but, I imbibed guilt with my mother's milk and have been feeling terrible ever since I posted and got the first response from Todd. But, it has all ended happily. (I know what you mean about 'guests' all my kids and families live nearby and they pop in, and stay, and stay, and stay....I give a sigh of relief as they leave...then look around and the house looks 'like the wreck of the Hesperus' as my dear departed mother used to say) Hope you all forgive me for my outburst. I bet hand grenades are expensive, and it would make an awful mess - you'd have spattered dog all over the walls and everything. Wouldn't a small knife be just as effective? I'm not leaving anyway....I was bluffing. bye grannyjill (and I still love you)

Guit guilt....smack over wrist...and another...and.....
![]() I have been away, but also been feeling a bit empty. I shall write something reasonably eye-catching. Solid work Jill, navigating the Hesperus back to port. > <

Hi, abu - I knew you were there somewhere....is there a rule that posts must always be fresh and that poets can't repost things?....for us new people, old posts wouldn't be old posts they would be new. They could go in the Just for Fun section if they have no need of any editing ('cos it says no critique is required in that forum) and they could be enjoyed all over again.

There's definitely no law against posting old stuff -- and you can post it in any forum you like, provided you're prepared to subject it to the relevant amount of critique.
