Hi, I'm new to this but looking forward to posting as soon as I've worked out how to do it. Looking forward to reading lots of interesting poetry as well.

I've said "Hi" and want to post a poem but just can't work out how to do it. I'm not good with technology..so, can someone help me please? Sorry, but I'm just useless with computers!

A quick read of your welcome letter will reveal all.

You need to write at least three thoughtful critiques (read the forum guidelines when you click on the forum to find out what's acceptable) and these need to be approved by the moderators before you can post your own poem.

We work on the premise that helping others workshop their poems to the highest possible quality is worth more than posting several of our own. Most longstanding members will have made many times more comments on other peoples threads than their own.

I hope this helps you and you find you enjoy what we have to offer. We are all learning, all the time.
It could be worse

Hi, Maralyn, welcome. What she said. Hysterical

Just read any poem a few times until you know what you like about it or what you feel might be better with a change. Then hit the "Reply" button under the poem, a field with the poem quoted will appear and then you can add your comments above, under, or within the body of it. Then hit the Post Reply button on the bottom. It won't show up until a mod okays it, but that doesn't take too long. After the first three posts it will appear immediately. If you hit the reply button under this post you'll see how it works.

Hope you enjoy the site. Smile

Hi peeps,

I'm quite new to writing poetry, but I really want to give it a shot. My psychologist adviced I'd find some way to express myself.
So anyway, hoping to read and write lots, and have a good time!

See ya!

My muse has been mummified for a few years but I am attempting an unwrap to see what's underneath. I may be here a little, or a lot, I know not which.

Hi everyone!

I'm nibbed. I'm new.
It's been a while since I've written on a forum.
I feel clumsy.
Curious about this poetry site.
Looking forward to reading and commenting.

Introductions are awkward!

Hi, nibbed, some of us are clumsy too. Then again, some move with staggering grace. Takes all kinds, welcome to the Pen, have a soothing mudbath or a reckless wallow, hope you enjoy the site. Smile

Looking forward to reading and commenting. Because these don't really work as complete sentences

So, I've been on here for years, but mostly inactive.

At times I get a little archaic, but then again this is my favorite poem

Sonnet 23: Methought I saw my late espoused saint Related Poem Content Details
BY JOHN MILTON
Methought I saw my late espoused saint
Brought to me, like Alcestis, from the grave,
Whom Jove's great son to her glad husband gave,
Rescu'd from death by force, though pale and faint.
Mine, as whom wash'd from spot of child-bed taint
Purification in the old Law did save,
And such as yet once more I trust to have
Full sight of her in Heaven without restraint,
Came vested all in white, pure as her mind;
Her face was veil'd, yet to my fancied sight
Love, sweetness, goodness, in her person shin'd
So clear as in no face with more delight.
But Oh! as to embrace me she inclin'd,
I wak'd, she fled, and day brought back my night.

Hello! My name is Joseph. I have been an avid reader of poetry both old and new, however I have not entered the "writer's" world yet. I have attempted to work on a few pieces, however, it ultimately led to me throwing them out due to lack of confidence. I hope one day I am comfortable enough in a poem to post on here, but for now I will enjoy the pleasure of reading all of our up and coming poets! Thank you so much, and I hope to meet and talk further with a lot of you. Smile

Hello Joe! Welcome to the Pen, and I hope soon you build the courage to post your work; no poetry deserves to be thrown out until someone else has read it!

Hi everyone. I just started writing poetry a few days ago after being a casual long form writer. I know nothing about poetry so I could use some guidance/feedback/lambasting. The best critique is the ruthless one. Glad to meet you all and I'll see you in the forums.

Hi, Shel, welcome to the Pen. Wonderful job on your first three critiques, you're now a full member able to post wherever you'd like, as responsible for this sty as the rest of us. Big Grin

I came here without a formal poetry education and found, still find, the Poetry Ptractice Forum moved me forward forcefully and was great fun to boot. Posting there is unlimited but make sure to keep the critiques you give at least a bit ahead of the ones you get.

We each use the site in our own way, make yourself at home. Big Grin
