Apologies if I derailed your thread. As it is in a critical forum I have one thought below you might think about.

Why No Clichés
 
If you  use clichés
and refuse to stop,
you are as much as admitting you could strike "as much as" here. I think the tightness is worth the slight change of meaning. I dunno, sounds more firm to me.
