I'm a newbie here on this poetry site, I go by puddles1947, call me puddles for short. I've been a writer of poetry since high school, but did not realize this until 2001, when I wrote a anniversary poem to my wife. I hope I have found a friendly poetry site to post my poems, been looking for some times, and founds many, but not friendly at all. I started putting my poetry to audio going on 5 years, hard to believe that much time has gone by, but it has. I record my words with a instrumental in the background, so will love to read and hear others who feel about poetry as I do. I live near San Antonio, Texas, where I was born, hope to get to know each of you in the coming months, thanks in advance for any welcome you may give this wayward Texan............Roland..... hi Roland we do have an audio section for spoken word stuff. we're friendly enough, all we ask is that poets leave one piece of feedback for each poem they post in one of the three feedback forums we run
welcome to the site.
hi EmilyJune519.

I'm new here, I can't say I'm a poet, per say but I just wanted some opinions on some stuff I wrote.

A big hello to everyone here. I'm going to try to get comfortable with the format as well as familiar with some of the poets before I post. Louise

hello louise. enjoy the extra fonts we provide, beware the poets on chains or behind fences, don't get overly familiar with them.

Hello!
I just got into poetry recently when it finally clicked for me a few months ago. I'm more comfortable with prose writing, but I'm trying to expand my horizons a bit by writing lots of poems about squirrels and such. I'm looking forward to reading, critiquing, and improving my own poetry!

hello. I have been squirreling away some poetry myself so I know what you mean. As for expanding your horizons? Try a far-seeing glass, it worked for me.
Good luck!!

Heya! I'm Graham, I'm from Dublin, I'm mostly a songwriter, but naturally enough that led me into poetry.
Initially, I started off trying to write totally abstract kind of free verse stuff, which inevitably was absolutely dreadful, but now I supposed tend towards more formally structured sorts of stuff, ballads, sonnets, villanelles, what have you.
That being said, I basically have no idea what I'm doing, so I guess that's why I'm here!
Hopefully, contributing to this community will teach me some things and improve my skills, and allow me to do the same for others.
Looking forward to participating!

hey my name is Brian....I used to hate poetry when i was little until i reached highschool....At highschool I got really infatuated with the arts. At first it was mainly music that I was interested in, but then I slowly discovered that music is poetry. I started reading some famous poems and I decided I want to do something within the art community. I started making music recently with one of my friends and we put it on youtube. The music got a lot of negative feedback so I decided to drop music for a while and go to poems. I started reading more poems and wrote my first one about two days ago. I felt it had a great meaning to it and that it was a great story so that's why I ended up here. I wanted to enhance my writig skills and learn more about poetic techniques and devices and I wanted to share my thoughts with other poets!
Hullo.

Oh wait. Wrong place.
I'm from Wales UK. I'm 28. I love cheesecake.
I've been playing with words for 2 years ish, eager to learn something new everyday.
I usually write narrative rhyme.
99% of what I write is true and relative to me, my experiences and what's going on at the moment in my life.
So really, you're all reading my diary.
Nosey fuggars.
Yeah, just looking for like-minded people who can teach me a thing or two.
You know what I really like about this site? The freedom.
I'm sick and tired of forum restrictions.
I'm sick and tired of getting banned from sites because I speak my mind. Because that's what writers are supposed to do.
I'm sick and tired of Mod-Club jobsworths telling me that my opinions are wrong.
So yeah, I think I'm going to like it here

As long as you jump right in and spread your cheesecake around, we're definitely going to like having you here
Normally we'd just tell people to check their egos at the door, but if you're Welsh chances are you already have...
It could be worse

hi jodie
i've never heard someone call the penis 'words' for ages.
from wales you say, it must be true then, poets really do have to suffer
welcome to the site
while we do mod the site we value opinion more. just don't attack the poet unless you're in the sewer or pig's arse
