I'm a friend of Em (aka Animal Riots Activist), and they referred me here! I was part of that fizzled out community of which they speak, and have hardly written since my last poetry class in school. However, I love reading and critiquing others' work, and it helps me find inspiration to do it myself again! I'll post a few of my older poems at first to test the waters. I hope you like my work, and I'm excited to read some great poems here!
Cheers,

While we did write quite a bit together, I think you'll find our styles are quite polar. Mr. Maps dreams in Trochaic Septameter, while I mostly dream in tongues. Big Grin

I find that tongues make for better dreams, personally.  But what makes for better poetry?  That's what I'm trying to figure out before I die.

Welcome to the madhouse, Mr. Alchemist.  Or should I call you Jesus Christ?

Hi,
i'm new to this poetry lark, started writing in Feb 2015 and couldn't stop myself, I've now written some 60 poems, some good (imo) and some just pure cheesy, I love the poetry writing process and just put it down straight from my head, so far this has been a very private deal with me so this is my step into the open as a 'poet', looking forward to many exchanges in the future.

HI!
New to this site, but not new to poetry.
Finishing my MFA in Creative Writing and need some feedback on a few pieces - so I'm critiquing a lot too!
I love to critique, especially if the poet isn't afraid to get into the nitty gritty behind the poem - I find it difficult to respond to great poems, because I feel critique is best when we can learn something.
I prefer short poems, because I have a short attention span (probably undiagnosed ADHD or something).
I am excited to critique and read critiques, and discuss everything poetic.
Good to be here!

Hi, welcome to the pen, it sounds like you've got plenty of raw material to work on. If you click on each forum name you'll see the posting guidelines so that you can choose the level of critique you'd like. If you've never critiqued before it's fun to learn.* Hope you enjoy the site.

I'll think you'll find some kindred spirits here who believe that sometimes the best way to improve a piece is to break it down and see how it looks rebuilt.

Members who give plenty of clear, specific critique are what makes the site work, just click on the title of each forum for posting guidelines for each.

Welcome, I hope enjoy the site.

Hi! My name is Rose. I've been writing poetry for a couple years and also critiquing my poet friends occasionally. I've never used an internet forum before, so I'm still figuring out how it works. It seems pretty neat though, and I'm excited for people who don't know me at all to give me fresh perspectives on my work Big Grin

Hello.
I enjoy writing poetry from time to time, especially as a means of relieving emotion, which I have in abundance as a teenager with a complicated co-ed friend group! I'm looking forward to sharing my thoughts anonymously (the wonders of the internet, hey) and providing feedback on the works of others.

Hi all,
I'm new to writing poetry, (purposely forgetting the wannabe artsy, teen angst pieces I wrote), and came here for the promise of constructive feedback. Not sure how well I'll critique, but I'll give it my best. Looking forward to being part of the community.Smile
I relish writing bad poems, if it means someday I'll write a good one.

Hiya QC -- just follow the guidelines at the top of each forum when it comes to critiquing. We expect that the Novice forum in particular is where people will blood themselves (metaphorically... mostly... ) when it comes to both writing and critiquing, so as long as you make it obvious that you've read and thought about the poem, you should be right.

Greetings Fellow Poets:

My name is Sally, but all my poetry friends call me "Forestdawn" I love nature. I live in Southern Oregon USA, out in the country among the trees and mountains. I've been married 26 years. and have a sixteen year old daughter.
My two very favorite famous poets are: Dr. Suess, and Edgar Allan Poe. Between these two poets, who are like night and day,
makes me feel a little bit "twisted" at times.
I look forward in reading my fellow poet's work. and sharing some of mine as well.

I am happy to have found this poetry site. I know I am going to enjoy it to the fullest.
Thank You

hi queeny

we're not all about how well people critique, we're more about how hard they try to give reasonable feedback. welcome to the site Thumbsup
