This forum seems like a fairly unique, interesting and pleasant corner of the internet. Mind if I join?
About myself: I'm a Dutchie (so English is not my first language) with some years of writing experience under her belt, but still eager to learn. Sometimes I call my work poetry, sometimes lyrics, sometimes stories - I'm not sure what they really are. I don't think of myself as advanced, but I think that with practice I'll eventually find my niche. My late poetry teacher once said that I'm not very good with (poetry) rules, but that fortunately I write my best works in free form. Hence I'm seeking that fine balance between using the rules as guidelines, while also allowing space for words to flow freely.
Will be fun to read all of your works as well! <3
All the Dutch fellows I know have exceedingly good English.
It’s almost as annoying as the fact that they’re twice your height. And have fabulous hair. Thankfully, they all wear wooden shoes

Welcome to the site, we are all really scary poetry teachers but we try to be gentle with newcomers.
Have fun
Thank you for your mercy, high Lords and Ladies of poetry. I both fear and look forward to your (gentle) roasting of my works.

Tall like trees - all thanks to those wooden kickers. (To work we wear our 'fancy clogs'.) You didn't think they'd make a difference to our height? HA! So gullible... They're wooden, they're our roots! Tree-roots, get it? Tall like t- ah, nevermind... They're also miniature BOATS. One day we will add miniature sails so we can walk on water AND NO ONE CAN STOP US! We're coming for ya, Muricah!

Hi all. Wazza here. I'm very much a senior, eighty-four this year. I've been writing, predominantly in rhyme, for many years but have limited experience in forums so apologies in advance for any foolish questions. Looking forward to reading pieces of your work.

Greetings Wazza,
Welcome to the Pigpen. No apologies needed, moderators are always happy toanswer questions. Use Messenger if you would be more comfortable with that. Mods are Tiger the Lion, Quixilated, CRNDLSM or myself. I may be leaving some names out, so I'll apologize for that
I was 66 when I joined, now nearing 70. I'm inspired you have kept up your writing at 84. Thanks for joining and leaping into NAPM too.

Welcome, and we're looking forward to you, too. Nothing more bracing than a good critique on a slow Monday morning!

I've managed to do words every once in a while;
but most of the time it's them undoing me.
Luckily, I enjoy both (most of the time).
Welcome to whatever this is.
Hopefully, you'll find something to like here.

Short answer, though, is always leave feedback on other people’s poems before posting your own. If you have further questions or need help you can always pm a mod.

Hi!
I've never written poetry because I needed to. Until a classical tale of unrequited love kept me up too many nights. So hopefully someone here isn't too sick of sappy sad love poems
Thanks for having me!

We have three main workshop forums of different levels of feedback, if you don't want to work on it but just share it I'd recommend many of our other forums, we still ask you leave feedback before posting your own, we take the workshopping critique fairly seriously. Otherwise please post everything, share, grow, learn, enjoy
And welcome
