I used to write three short stories a day. I forced myself. And I have been looking at them, and see words that I kept spelling wrong over and over. Words I know I know how to spell. Simple words. And I don't know why. I spell more simple words wrong than I do hard words. I guess it's because I doublecheck the words that intimidate me. Intimidate, I don't know if I got that one.
Sometimes I look at things I've written, and it's not the word at all. It don't look or sound like it. : Example: I was walking to the store the other day, and got so tired I saw down on the sidewalk. : No that's not a good example. It's words that don't even have the same letters.
And then there are is, little things like that. There's five people in this room. That's the way I talk. But it sneaks into my writing. . . . I do think it's ok, OK, okay, because language is a funny thing. There are reasons for these strict rules. I break them all the time. Sometimes on purpose, sometimes not. . . . But.

		Fart:  loud:  ppbbbbffftttt.
Silent:  ffffffft

Some sounds cannot be spelled because we simply don’t have a symbol for those sounds in our alphabet.  We only have an alphabet for the sounds required for language.  We rely on onomatopoeia for the rest.  But it’s fun to try.

There's American. British. Archaic. . . . And there's blues talk. Listening to rock lyrics and old blues songs, and it's wrong, but it actually sounds better. And comes out of your mouth better. Further. Farther. Backward. Backwards. Clue. Clew. Fantasy. Phantasy. Connection. Connexion. Sometimes I spell words differently in the same story based on rhythm, and the way people talk. I'll have a person pronounce a word depending on the mood, the tone, and have him say or spell it different or differently in the next sentence. People tell me it's silly. But these subtle little things make a difference.
I think I misunderstood the topic. But I haven't slept for four or five days.

English has an unusually restricted phonetic range. It lacks even the basic soft ‘t’ of Italian, to day nothing of other sounds in non European languages
