Veil of Meaning

Veil of Meaning

Has meaning lost thou rigid spirit?
Or is it gone by your decree?

Your shadow shows true and clear.
But not for you, that’s forbidden.

Heed the words, not their syntax.
Do not confuse the art for math.

Forget your books, they are no use,
To understand this hardy truth.

I love the use of abstract imagery in this piece; key lines like the first and fifth create great highlights within the work. I would say (although it is an 8-line poem) there is a lot more abstract imagery in comparison to concrete examples. The tone within this piece is quite well curated, but I did notice there there is slight imbalance between the archaic/old English phrasing towards modern phrasing. The first and second lines you chose to use "thou" and "decree" which portray the olden feelings, but the rest of the poem reverts back to a more modern diction.

(Love this poem; bye!)
