Dedicated to those killed or injured in the Boston Marathon

Hatred pulls the lips downward into

a smile that never reaches the eyes.

A pressure cooker packed with malice;

its timer ticking.

Shrapnel spewed from a ruthless mind

into a crowd of astonishment.

Shards propelled without warning

Lives exploding in a puff of smoke.

Hi Heart,
I like this poem very much. Only eight lines, and still much is expressed.
The image in first two lines was beautifully conveyed, and I felt the sentiment of the poem right away.
Also, I liked the alliterations. Especially L4, creating in itself, a sense of ticking.
Thanks for the read Smile

Hi Volaticus , thank you for commenting and your opinion. Not the most uplifting piece of course, but a gut reaction the that tragic obscenity.

Thanks KICKBACK. As I said, this was an outlet for my disgust following this horrific event.

Crazy people that use crude violence give other crazy people a bad reputation.

But these guys didn't seem crazy before. That one guy had a decent looking girl that converted to Islam for him.

I can't even get a Christian girl to convert to Christianity for me.
